M. Target Group would like to inform you starting from 2 January 2025, all employers in Cyprus must ensure that the Essential Employment Terms for each of their employees are registered in the ERGANI Information System. The deadline for completing this registration is 28 February 2025.
This new employer obligation has been established through Decree ΚΔΠ 455/2024, issued by the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, and published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cyprus on 20 December 2024.
The primary goal of this new requirement is to improve monitoring and enforcement of compliance with local labour laws and to minimize the incidence of undeclared employment.
The following Essential Employment Terms must be registered in the ERGANI System (ergani.mlsi.gov.cy), according to the Decree:
- Employer information
- Business type for retail businesses
- Employee details
- Registered office of the employer
- Workplace location as stated in the employment contract, along with the actual workplace at the time of registration
- Job title and employee specialization
- Start date of employment
- End date for fixed-term contracts
- For temporary employment agencies, details of the indirect employer
- Terms and duration of the probationary period
- Annual leave duration and allocation method
- Salary/wages and payment frequency (daily/weekly/monthly/hourly)
- Standard working hours (per day/week)
- Indication of whether the employee’s schedule is unpredictable
- Other benefits, allowances, commissions, and cost-of-living adjustments
The Decree also requires employers to create an account in the ERGANI system (if one does not already exist) and to generate an Employment Contract for all employees without exception.
